RDM & SRM - Design Concept – Product Flexibility

The RDM is a Reed Type Switch with N/O (Normally/Open) contacts.

The powerful Magnet will pull the Reed Switch contacts closed from a distance of 1-1/4 inches or less.

Reed Switch Ratings:

Switched Voltage and Current DC (max) – 200V and 250mA
Switched Voltage and Current AC (max) – 140V and 250mA
Carry Current DC (max) – 1A
Maximum wire length – 25 feet

Note: To avoid damage to the Reed Switch or Equipment do not exceed maximum ratings.

RDM can be used to perform multiple switching tasks such as to close lighting circuits or other circuits that requires a momentary or maintained contact.

Note: For maintained contacts, the magnet must be present to maintain contact closure.

The SRM Product Series has a recorded train sound for testing purposes. You can use the existing sound or record your preferred train sound or voice message.

Two sets of wires come from this module and they could be extended to suit your application.

The Reed Switch needs to be soldered in parallel with the P (playback) Switch and placed near the edge of the track near enough to trigger the Reed Switch. As the Magnet placed in the Freight Car passes the Reed Switch the SRM will playback the Train Sound each time the Freight Car passes.

Several Reed Switches can be used to provide multiple triggering points to a single SRM.
