Signal Indication - Color

Meaning - Action

Green

Clear - Proceed, two clear blocks ahead.

Flashing Yellow

Approach Medium - Proceed and prepare to pass next signal not exceeding 40 mph. The next signal indication is Approach.

Yellow

Approach - Proceed and prepare to stop before the engine passes the next signal. Reduce speed to 40 mph or less. The next signal indication is Stop or Stop and Proceed.

Red over Green

Diverging Clear - Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout.

Red over Flashing Yellow

Diverging Approach Medium - Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout, prepare to pass next signal not exceeding 40 mph. The next signal indication on the diverging route is Approach.

Red over Yellow

Diverging Approach - Proceed on diverging route not exceeding prescribed speed through turnout, prepare to stop at next signal, reduce speed to 40 mph or less. The next signal indication on the diverging route is Stop or Stop and Proceed.

Red - mileage marker on mast

Stop and Proceed - Stop, proceed at restricted speed. Permissive Stop.

Red - “A” on mast / no mileage marker

Absolute Stop - Stop before the signal.
