Your - BTS Series - LED Train Crossing Blinker with Timer and Train Crossing Bell Sound, is programmed to provide standard DOT flashing rate for an preset time.
DOT Flashing Rate: "The illuminating element in a flashing signal shall be flashed continuously at a rate of not less than 50 nor more than 60 times per minute."
"The illuminated period of each flash shall be not less than 1/2 and not more than 2/3 of the total flash cycle."
Train Crossing circuits are equipped with motion detection devices that triggers the lights, gates, and bells. Several manufacturers had developed sophisticated electronic circuits for scale model trains. Our BTS series (blinker, timer and sound) is based on simplicity and flexibility.
This module provides reliable grade or level crossing signal with Flashing Red LED's and Crossing Bell sound for your Model Train Crossing.
Note: All BTS series products operate at the same flashing rate and it can handle up to 16 LED's.

Connect your Momentary Switch or the RDM (reed switch and magnet kit sold separately).
Note: If you are using different wire colors remember the substituted colors need to match the correct connections. Connect multiple LED assemblies in parallel.
How does the BTS work?
Based on the approaching train’s speed and distance from the crossing signal, the BTS circuit gets activated to provide consistent warning time for the crossing flashing LED's and will playback the crossing bell sound. Will consider the train will maintain its speed going through the grade or level crossing. Determine the distance and clock the travel duration (BTS is preset to 20 seconds).
The Timer starts by a momentary closure of a momentary switch placed on the layout as the train passes by. A RDM (reed switch and magnet kit) could be used or your own choice of momentary contact closure. The Timer is preset to 20 seconds and is adjustable from 0.5-150 seconds.
To adjust the timing:
Plug in the power adapter.
Short the Start connector and adjust the pot: turn CW (clock wise) to decrease and CCW (counter clock wise) to increase. 1 turn = 6 seconds.
Use the Reset switch if you need to stop the timer at any time.
To record a shorter or a different sound:
The Crossing Bell Sound is factory recorded for the maximum period of 20 seconds. If shorter time is required or record your own sound please go to our Sound Files web page. To record, hold down the Record button. Release the button to stop recording. Note: A new recording replaces the previous one. Press the Play to playback sound. If playback volume is to low, increase the volume during the recording.
Note: The Crossing Bell sound can be played at anytime while the power is on and also will play when activated by the Timer.
CARE - To enjoy your BTS for a long time:
MODIFYING OR TAMPERING WITH THE BTS's INTERNAL COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A MALFUNCTION AND WILL INVALIDATE ITS WARRANTY.
